Seen & Tasted

The last week and a half has been a return to the gym grind, catching up with friends and family, and preparing myself mentally to return to the classroom. Here is a highlight reel of recent eats and a few outings:
A friend suggested we meet for lunch at WaterCourse Foods. I haven't had lunch there since they took my favorite sandwich off the menu (the Dona Lee), but they have redeemed themselves with the Kale Caesar Salad with Crispy Seitan. Yes. My leftovers were eaten the same day as lunch. Ha!

Lots of time with this one (when it is not too hot outside - otherwise, it's just the backyard and playing in the house).

You know:

Rockies game with the family:

Cucumber Noodle Salad and Tofu Spring Rolls with peanut sauce.

Above: Toasted Everything bagel with Tofutti and Cucumbers. My third batch of Gazpacho:

Museum exhibit with a friend and her daughter:

This morning I am restoring the heavy workout schedule on my body with a trip to the chiropractor, followed by coffee with Mom, and later a catch up with a friend. See you this weekend with another update!

Vacation Mega Post

All of you were correct! Seattle, Washington was the destination! I had never been, and so a friend and I flew in for three full days - leaving early in the morning on the fourth day.  This post is all sightseeing based and no food. I don't get a lot of time with her, so when we weren't moving there was a lot of catching up. I wish it had been more adventurous, food wise, but all the more reason to visit there again.

The weather was perfect: never warmer than the low 80s with a cool breeze off of the water.  Enjoy the photos (all taken on phone!).

Pike Place Market above, Gum Wall below
Views from the Seattle Great Wheel
4th of July Fireworks from South Lake Union (no filter!)

 Space Needle and Chihuly Gardens

 Harbor Cruise
Day trip to Bainbridge Island (35 minutes on a ferry)

It doesn't look real, but this is Mt. Rainier from the plane on the morning back:

I brought a few items back for family, and for myself:

And with that - summer is half over, and now I return to regularly scheduled programming. See you on Wednesday!

Keep It Interesting

I couldn't find the Cookie's & Cream flavor mentioned by Sarah, but I did find this:
Oh my.

To counteract the treat, I am trying to focus on my veggie intake:

As you read this post, I am in another state. Here are three hints: this state produces more apples than any other in the nation; before it was a state, it was known as the Columbia Territory; Lewis and Clark expedition entered into the territory in 1805. Now that you know the state, which city?

See you on Sunday with the reveal!

Most years, I like to walk around the Cherry Creek Arts Festival on the first weekend of July. I can't afford any of it, and they are definitely catering to the million dollar customers that live in the area, but that doesn't stop me from browsing! Sculpture, jewelry, glass, photography, painting - you name it, and it was there.

I spent about an hour walking around, and wore Remy in the backpack. I always get smiles or surprised looks, but I was not alone in my pooch carrying! Several other owners with their wearable canines stopped to say hello and sniff, and three other people thanked me for not making my dog walk on the hot pavement.  Worn out by all of the activity, there was a lot of sleeping the rest of the day:

I hope you've had a great weekend!
