Follow Through

As promised, here I am! Ttrockwood correctly guessed - the buns were used to house sloppy joes! I had a memory from childhood, and decided to live it out:
Manwich is not very good, so I had to add barbeque sauce to make it manageable. Oh well!

Lunches this week: Homemade Sweet & Sour bell peppers, onions, pineapple, garlic, and tofu with broccoli and jasmine rice.  I'm already sick of it, but have two more days to go. Ha!
 PB Banana breakfast toast:
Monday night, my cousin and her two year old daughter invited me to dinner at ModMarket (her husband travels for work a lot, so adult companionship is at a premium!).

See you this weekend! When we lose one hour of sleep...  *cries*

  1. I remember I tried manwich once and wasn't really impressed! I've never heard of adding peas to my sloppy Joes, that sounds good actually. I've also never made them with Boca crumbles, I always use lentils. I bet they're really good with Boca!!

    1. Lentils! Yes, they were my runner up! I know the Happy Herbivore uses them in her recipe. I like the pea and crumble mixture!

  2. That's so funny when you make a meal out of nostalgia and it just isn't as you remembered it. I'm glad that you were able to make in manageable though. The lunch meals look really delicious but I can see how it would get old quickly. I've been craving peanut butter and banana toast lately so I should definitely make that happen sooner rather than later.

I hope the rest of your week goes quickly!

    1. I really should leave food memories in the past - where they belong, with my younger tastebuds. Ha ha!

Yes, make the toast! So good!

It has been a whirlwind, but I can suck it up until break (two weeks away!).

  3. Aha!! I like it when i'm right ;))
Not sure i ever even had a sloppy joe before going vegetarian, wasn't a popular thing where i grew up but i totally get the appeal. Nice save with the bbq sauce!
I can somehow have the same breakfast about every single day but by the third day of the same lunch or dinner i can't deal and get sick of it too.
I love/hate the time change in the spring- hoping our weird weather turns spring for good!

    1. Ha ha! You were correct! I finished them up yesterday, and it's safe to say that I don't need to ever make sloppy joe's again.

I am missing that extra hour right now! I slept like a rock, so I woke up "late", and have been playing catch up ever since.

  4. I dont know that I've ever had a sloppy Joe!! They always looked good... but I'm not the biggest fan of peas soooo hmmmm
The sweet and sour lunch looks good! I usually do 2 days of a lunch, and 3 days of a different one or else, yeah, I get bored of it too.
Catching up on yr last post - so good of you to help yr colleague out! And good work on the meal. A dear friend of mine was diagnosed with testicular cancer, which has a very high recovery rate but watching him go through chemo is tough. We're planning on making food together soon but I think right now he's just nauseous a lot. All the best to your friend (and her family.)

    1. I love peas! But I'll let you have all the eggplant in the world, as it is my least favorite veg!

Yes, I'm back to that pattern this week. No more "five days of ____"!

Chemo sees to be the biggest part of cancer. She has great odds, but becomes so ill after the treatment. Thank you for the love, and I send the same to your friend!

  5. Ack! I missed another game! Oh well, I loved Manwich with Boca Crumbles (Peas is a new one on me). I just didnt eat much of it cuz if the high fructose corn syrup. Fantastic Food's Sloppy Joe Mix is good. Wont Remy help you get through the lunches (minus the Onions)?

    1. I actually had a student say that he would eat my lunches, if I didn't want them! Ha ha! It was Friday by that point, so it was too late. Lesson learned: 3 days of the same lunch, at maximum!

    2. That is hilarious about your student! He must have a mother like mine, anything to not waste food.
