Celebratory Weekend

It's that time of year - when you become older, and people like to take you out to eat.  Behold: Oatmeal SuperFood Bowl from Blue Sky Cafe.
Grandma in Kansas embroidered these dish towels for me! So cute!
Did you hear about this? I tried it out and made my own birthday cupcakes.
 From the family:
Shen, this one is for you: Mom agreed to go to True Food Kitchen with me for lunch today (I took the day off!) The TLT is everything I hoped it would be and more. Can't wait for the leftovers tomorrow.
Also, this was our weather on Friday:
I'm out the door to enjoy dinner at Homegrown Tap & Dough - where I'll enjoy one of my favorites: the quinoa salad (almonds, cucumber, avocado, apples, golden raisins, arugula & lemon vinaigrette).  See you soon!

  2. Yay!! Happy Birthday!! I love the embroidery, it is so beautiful! Grandma is so talented. It looks like you've been enjoying the festivities and hooray for a trip to TFK! How did you like the cupcakes? I've heard of that trick but have never tried it. What kind of soda did you use? Did it actually work? Did you taste the soda or was it masked? Haha so many questions.

Hooray for beautiful weather! Just in time for the weekend :)

    1. We have been very spoiled with good weather lately! But March tends to be pretty snowy...

Thank you, Sarah! Grandma is quite talented!

  3. Happy Birthday!! Those dish towels are awesome!! Does she freehand it?
Yeah, I'm curious about how the cupcakes came out as well. They sure look good.
The weather sounds fantastic, hope Remy got a nice long BD walk.

    1. Remy doesn't get too many walks these days - he is on forced rest until the end of the month, as he has inflamed spinal discs (common in small dogs). He's almost nine, so I guess we have to stop acting like a young pup!

The cupcakes turned out fine flavor wise - just a little dry! I'd try to make another version, though!

  4. I didn't know that you could do that with a cake mix, but now I want to try it! How did it go with the cupcakes? They do look ever so pretty! Ditto those towels - super cute!

    1. Thank you! I'm an advocate of everyone not working on their birthdays.

The kale salad was delicious! I'd love to go back and try other things!

  6. Happy Belated Birthday! So relieved TFK lived up to my hype. I miss the food there (but not the hour long trip in traffic to get there).

What they said about the Cupcakes: How were they? I made a 'Dump Cake' several years ago that was just okay.

Grandma's embroidery is like from a bygone era. Hope you dont actually plan to dry dishes with them.

    1. Yes, I use the tea towels! That was the plan. Can't take it with you, right?!

The cupcakes were good, if anything a little dry.

It was such a great sandwich, I can see why you loved it!
