First of Many

This week has been so busy, I've hardly noticed that we're half way through... with a long weekend on the other side, woo hoo! Why so busy? Monday night workout class, Tuesday after work I needed to drop off my car for a new bumper and get a rental car*, Back to School Night tonight, tomorrow after work I will return said rental and pick up my car...

*I was rear-ended in July, it wasn't that bad and I had previous damage, but the lady's insurance company offered to buy me a new bumper. Sweet! My rental car is a 2016 Toyota Camry with all digital everything.
But before driving the sparkly new car, I ate berries and cocoa almonds for breakfast:
Made a lunch of Happy Herbivore Eggless Salad Sandwich, pickle, and peach.
In between the end of the school day and the start of Back to School Night, my boss allowed me to pick up Remy and let him hang out in my room...
And then it was 7:30pm, and I needed to not be cooking my own dinner:
See you this weekend!

Adjusted & Routined

It took the usual two weeks, but I have changed: my workout times, bedtime, alarm clock, weekend habits, meal prep, dog walk times, and calendar availability. So basically, my life.  But at least now I can mold young minds, build relationships, and challenge adolescents to perform at higher levels (in an 81-89 degree classroom with disorganized schedules...).

This weekend saw patio progress for the first time in six weeks: I was gifted patio lights (this is not how I'll hang them, I was testing that they worked!), and the table I want was finally back in stock! It should be here next week.

Frankie stayed the weekend, as his Mom was out of town.

No one cares that I need to sleep in the bed as well. Ha!

Saturday morning hour long class consisted of 60% indoor cycling with 40% HIIT workout (items on the board were completed twice, 50 seconds on 8 seconds rest, and 30 seconds on 4 seconds rest). I'm sore today! And I hate burpees.

The other great thing about this time of year, is that grocery stores sell pb & jelly at a discount! Two new items:

More new to me items:
I haven't tried the Just Ranch yet, but it was the last bottle at WF (compared to previous attempts to purchase, where there were none!), Barbara's cereal was 2/$6, and the Cold Brew Coffee with Almond Milk is dangerously wonderful and the same price as Starbucks Iced Coffee in a big bottle.

I'll be back on Wednesday with another post! I hope you've had a great weekend!

Catching Up

Things have been hectic, as the school year rolls on! I'm finally caught up on life to empty my photos from the weekend and yesterday...

I'll be back on Sunday! I hope you're having a good week!

Back to the Grind

(I thought I hit "publish" last night, but I guess I didn't! Here is Wednesday's post!)

We're talking 9 hour days with non-stop meetings. A full face plant into the school year. Happily, I enjoy my colleagues, as many have become friends. If only I could find way to squeeze in more sleep...

Bran flakes and almond milk.

Hazelnut Almond Milk Latte and "welcome back" jar with tea, fruit snacks, granola bar, and mints.

I brought lunch from home: tempeh, avocado, tomato, lettuce sandwich and blueberries.

Dinner of lazy teachers: Super Spinach Salad from TJ's:

See you this weekend...

Week 10 of Summer

It does feel like it has been a long time since the school year ended. Heck, it feels like a long time since I finished my patio! However, this does not mean I feel ready to go back to work. Ha ha! Too bad - it's happening. But first, the second half of my last week of summer (see the previous post for the first half)...
Accidentally vegan find at the grocery store! It was a little too sweet, so perhaps not one for the usual rotation.

Remy at the park.

Asian Chopped Salad with Mandarin Oranges.

Back to School Haircut (nothing extreme, just a couple of inches).

Tomato, avocado, onion, pickle, lettuce sandwich. No sprouts due to the Salmonella outbreak.

A couple more occasions with friends, laundry and groceries today, family time tomorrow, and then 5:45am punches me in the face on Monday.

Farewell, summer. I miss you already! We'll pick up where we left off in 44 weeks...

P.S. I don't know what my daily schedule looks like yet, but this next week I'll stick to the Wednesday and Sunday posting schedule.

The Last Days

I've been diligent about snapping photos these few days, in order to slow down this last week of summer break. I've also had weird digestive issues, so I've had lots of healthy food to try and rebalance it.

I purchased a Groupon for pressed juices, and have been working my way through them. I'm a little scared of the Charcoal Lemonade!

Not afraid of the the Happy Herbivore Banana Frosty recipe, and havemade it twice: (a little heavy with the cocoa powder!)

More time with this little one:

And time outside:

Seeing friends (that's Kombucha in the glass!)...

Having smoothly bowls and melon:

And big salads....

See you on Saturday with highlights from the rest of the week!

Week 9 of Summer

This week, I spent most of Monday and Wednesday helping my brother pack, clean, and move apartments. Otherwise, I spent some time preparing for work - phone calls, emails, calendar mapping, but made time to catch up with friends and rest.
Almond milk latte, meeting with a colleague.

Another smoothie bowl.

Massive slices of toasted sourdough, topped with Tofutti, tomato, and cucumber.

The last three days have been in the low 80s and even the low 70s - an absolute dream. I was able to sit in my east facing backyard in the morning, and not be burnt to a crisp.

Also dreamy, a Deli Reuben from Native Foods.

Lately, Remy has been struggling to clear the bed. Occasionally, he'll take a running start. Or he'll wait for me to pick him up. He's not geriatric, but I want to preserve his back and hips. While at checkout (at Marshall's), the cashier asked if I had an elderly family member. I laughed, but I recently saw a daschund with a neck pillow, so it's safe to say we'll do anything for our canines.

(Remy also had a haircut today, and lots of treats to entice him up and down the stairs.)

Here we go - the final week of summer is upon us.
