Week 8 of Summer

A batch of cheezy kale chips.

Mango on Mango:
Beet Box Turtle Brownie:
This week saw four long walks in the evenings with friends or neighbors. Summer evenings are the best!

Otherwise, there was exciting things like dental cleanings, car oil change, my brother's birthday, wandering around markets and visits with friends.  I think Week 8 was my lazy week, and I plan to do more school work prep next week. I am in complete denial that the summer is nearly over. *cries*

    1. It's more about avoiding the "punch in the face" that is the start of the school year. I need to ease back in, even though I don't want summer to end!

  2. Some days, you just got to get things done, even if it's not a particularly fun use of time. Any summer day that's not spent doing fun stuff does seem a waste though! Mind you, the brownie and the dog walking must make up a little bit!

  3. Visiting friends, long walks and going to the markets sounds ideal to me...! That brownie looks really incredible. How have i not had mango la croix yet?? I keep buying the coconut as often as i can, it's so refreshing on these hot days.
I'm sure you'll make the most of what summer vacation you have left!

    1. I recently saw the Apricot flavor, so that will be my next purchase! I'm trying to make each day go slowly!

  4. Do you ever wish the vacation time was spread out throughout the year instead of just the standard summer, winter break and spring break?

    Incredible looking Brownie.

    1. Truthfully, I do wish we could leave behind this ridiculous agrarian school calendar. We should join our other first world countries and have breaks intermittently, but it would not only require an act of Congress, it would require a social shift. So, I've accepted it won't happen.

    2. Wow. Honest answer. Wonder if most teachers feel the same. As a student, I always dreaded going back to school in the fall. shorter breaks probably would prevent the build up of such dread.

  5. Yes!!! I love your lazy week!! Summer strolls with the pups and friends is definitely the best. That brownie looks insane. I am definitely jealous of that! Your market looks like it is a nice size and your plans sound perfect to me. Happy birthday to your brother!

    1. Thanks, Sarah! We've had cooler weather the last two days, so Remy has been enjoying longer walks! I can't believe it's all about to be over. So sad!
