Parcel & Sauce

Ya know, instead of "pasta and sauce"? Ha ha!

The beautiful Sarah sent me a birthday package with eats and treats:


The eats are yummy and the treats are so sweet! The various owl expressions are hilarious! Thank you so much, Sarah!

Miso Gravy with a side of steamed kale and potato wedges. And ketchup.

Lavendar Essential Oil was misted on us during Savasana in yoga.  But that's not really sauce.  See you this weekend...

Routine

I seem to have fallen into a routine of overbooking myself on the weekends, for nearly all weekends since the holidays.  And I seem to eat out more than I should! I did try to reign it in this weekend, but another friend wanted to go out for my birthday (belately) and then celebrating my brother landing a full time job at an engineering firm (he has worked retail since his internship ended September 30th).  Next weekend, my grandparents from Kansas are in town. Thus, the routine continues. . .

Homemade Meals:

(Cheesecake Factory - Fresh Vegetable Salad without cheese)

Another routine which I have not shared in the past few weeks is my workout schedule, so here ya go:

Tuesday - Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Wednesday - YogaCycle (RideTRX is sold out)
Thursday - Gentle Vinyasa (they hired a new teacher, I'll try her out)

So Many Options

I could call this post: "Bonus Day" because our school gave us today off in exchange for staying late last week (parent-teacher conferences).  Or "Best Intentions" as I struggled to not eat out at every meal (I had to talk myself out of it!); once you've started, it's hard to cleanse your palate!  Another option for a title: "Trader Joe's Attempt" because. . .
I went:
 I saw.
 The line was too long.
 It went from one side of the store (produce) to the other (liquor), and back towards the registers.  There were so many people (at 2pm on a Tuesday!).  I tried to look around, but it was all too overwhelming.  I'll go back in about a month. Ha!

Before all of that was a noon class: Vinyasa Flow.  And prior to that was my attempt at health for breakfast:
 I used half of the package, one frozen banana, frozen strawberries, and unsweetened almond milk.

Late morning, I peeled two carrots and chomped down.

After TJ's, I made lunch:
And then I ate the rest of the cucumber.

Laundry, napping, generally avoiding work of any kind.

Instead of a pound of mushrooms, I did a half pound of baby bellas and a half pound of Gardein Beefless Tips.  She served it over pasta and farro, and I used rice pilaf.  It's about as laborious as Skinny Bitch Beefless Stew, but not quite as tasty (more spices needed).  Also, I love onions, but next time I'll swap out one kind for another vegetable (it calls for one cup of pearl onions, and one whole yellow onion).  Otherwise, it was nice to finally make it after thinking about it for a few weeks.

Back to reality tomorrow! Hopefully the rest of the week goes well, and I wish the same for you!

Temperature Check

-9 Degrees and a PB Waffle

While my classroom was 68 degrees (almost comfortable), other rooms were 20 degrees cooler. The winning classroom: 41 degrees.  The building is 90 years old, but they put in a new heating system a year and a half ago. The boiler works, the vents are open,. . .the contractor who installed them sees no urgency in fixing them.  So, when we were released from school, I picked up lunch.  Took a nap, and went to Yoga. 

-3 Degrees and Native Foods bought me dinner:
Deli Reuben and Native Fries.
(The month of your birth, the Rewards Card credits you $10 towards a meal.)

Now I'm really full, in need of a detox, and about 16 blankets (-8 degrees as I type).

Spooning

Evening spooning: Tomato Coconut Curry Soup
And a grilled Daiya quesadilla - as recommended by the author of the soup recipe.

Tonight, I am double spooning canines - Remy, and my neighbor's dog Frankie:
Every once in a while when one of us is busy, the other hangs out with the dogs. Last week Remy was over there while I was at the yoga/cycle studio, and now we are returning the favor!  Frankie is such a good snuggler, and Remy does well with him.  Additionally, I have a living heater on either side of me - perfect for withstanding the -13 degree windchill that tries to seep in through the windows.

Weekend Check-In

I met up with a couple of friends at BookBar
This was Saturday's special: Chili-Infused Chocolate Latte with Almond Milk.

Whilst there, a friend gifted me a homemade candle - which came in this adorable reusable bag.

The cold weather has me pining for hot food, and I bought the ingredients to make more Tomato Coconut Curry Soup (but with a different side - I'll show you later this week!).  For now, I'm off to clean at the studio followed by watching the Superbowl with my parents and brother.  Win or lose, I imagine this city will be nuts post game.  See you on the other side!
