First August Weekend

I can't believe it's August! School is around the corner, and I need to get working.  I choose this weekend to be my last full on "lazy, unscheduled, summer days".  Here are the fruits of those last days:
 Native Foods Rueben
Farmer's Market: Sweet Corn (7/$2), Broccoli - HUGE Green Onions - Kale ($5).

A friend gifted me zucchini from her garden, so I picked up this gadget at Bed, Bath & Beyond:

(I haven't used it yet, but will give a full review when I do!)

Milkshake (frozen banana, almond milk, vanilla extract)

Other family members (along with grandparents) were in town, and have been staying in a house in Breckenridge.  We spent today lounging on the deck chatting.  I stayed in the moment, and didn't photograph too much (including the lovely lunch - I had a veggie burger, corn on the cob, and salad).  Here, however, are the views from the deck and one of the many hummingbirds buzzing around:

  1. Sounds like a perfect weekend to me!! What gorgeous views off of the deck! How nice to be able to spend time with your family and I've been doing the same and just trying to be in the moment.

Great looking meals! I'm still so jealous of Native Foods and that reuben looks yummy. What a great farmer's market and garden haul! I've seen that spiralizer in a few stores and have been tempted to get it. I'm definitely looking forward to your review! The milkshake sounds like a perfect treat on a hot summer day.

I can't believe how quickly the summer has gone! I hope you fully enjoy your last few weeks of vacation!!

    1. The views were pretty great, and I especially loved sitting outside for the majority of it! I don't have a patio area, so I feel like I miss out on summer meals and conversation outside - without having to tip someone. Ha ha!

I'm going to give the gadget a go tomorrow, and will give a full review!

Oh my gosh, I'm not ready at all! No matter how much I prep, I think the first day of school will be here before I know it. *sigh*

  2. I recognized the Reuben immediately without reading the caption. Would it be so sinfrul to eat one every day till school starts back up? I think not.

Adorable little Hummer. I used to get lots of Hummingbirds wtill I changed my nectar recipe from regular refined sugar yo TJ's Evaporated Cane Juice Sugar. That was bye bye from them.

    1. And I can't wait for the Native Foods location to open near you! September, right? Get yourself on the email list, so they will send you "an exclusive invite" to their pre-opening. I missed that opportunity with the location nearest to me, and when they opened a second one further away - I received said email (albeit too late to go).

I'm not sure what simple syrup they used in the feeder, but my cousin's husband snapped some amazing photos of the hummingbirds before I arrived. There were so many of them buzzing around!

    3. Replying to myself. I applied to their email lost and I have 10 days to get a free dessert, but our DC location wont be open for at least another month.

  3. I love hummingbirds! They're so sweet! And what a beautiful view.
Sometimes unscheduled days can be just as productive as not. Looking forward to seeing some zucchini spaghetti soon.

    1. Me, too!

My lazy days are pretty unproductive! Ha ha! And now that I need to get to work, I'm suddenly feeling the need to clean or organize. Productive procrastination. ;)

  4. I'm anxious to hear what you think of the veggetti because I have a spiralizer that's great, but takes up quite a bit of room. Great shot of the hummingbird!

    1. This was definitely a budget purchase, so hopefully it stands up to the others. Full review coming tomorrow!

      Thanks, Abby! :)

  5. The summer sure is flying by. It has to be very hard for you to get back into work mode! I'm glad you treated yourself to Native Foods. Yum!

That's so awesome that you got to spend some time in the mountains. I love the Breckenridge area. We've stayed in Silverthorne a few times and visited Breckenridge one of the times we were there. I love the hummingbird. They're so cool to watch!

    1. I've totally had to force myself! Ha! But now that I'm sliding into a routine, it feels a little better.

I haven't stayed up there in a while, but it certainly is beautiful and seeing all of the trails made me want to hike or bike there soon. The weekend traffic, however, makes the 1 and a half ride up more like two or more. Argh!
