Weekend Repeats

A laid back weekend, a little more family and a little time with friends, and mostly repeats on the menu.
 Baked Oatmeal
Chili
Indo Noodle Salad from Native Foods
Grapefruit
Miso Soup
Broccoli & Spaghetti

My taste buds are bored. I'm going to get creative in the kitchen each day this week, seeing as the following week I'll have to go back to work (which equals quick and predictable).  See you soon!

  1. Repeats are okay I think! This seems to be the time of year when we are focused on DOING things and are kind of rushed so it's hard to think about food beyond it being sustenance. That said, yr meals all still look beautiful and delicious. The chili looks like serious business and the matching miso soup bowl is awesome. You must have shown it before but now I'm all about it because of those spoons! They're so fun.
Happy New Years... hope the transition back to school isn't too bad.

    1. Until today, I hadn't been to grocery store (minus a quick trip here and there), and so I was eating the items in my fridge, whether they "called" to me or not! These are more of my lazy meals. I have one more serving of chili, and am trying to think of way to eat it! Ha ha!

I haven't even thought of work, even though I need to get some lesson plans in - and read up on a few things. In all honesty, it'll probably happen this weekend because I am too busy enjoying the break! ;) Happy New Year!

  2. I'm with FF, repeats are totally fine and are even helpful with creating routine! Although I understand it can definitely get boring. Anyway, your baked oatmeal looks so festive and lovely! Glad you are getting that salad in while you can. I still think you should buy a gallon of that peanut sauce/dressing ;) I wish I didn't have a grapefruit aversion because yours looks so pretty. That color is gorgeous. The miso soup looks yummy and I love the spoon too! So cute and fun!

I can't wait to see what fun things you cook up this week :) Hope you have a very Happy New Year!!

    1. The pressure is on! ;) I've captured the more interesting choices from today and will do the same tomorrow. Hopefully I'll continue with new flavors in the New Year!

I definitely think it is because nothing is exciting or particularly flavorful right now. Borderline "I have a fridge full of food I don't want to eat". Thus, time to get creative! ;)

Making my own peanut sauce is on the agenda, as they probably won't sell it to me! Ha!

  3. I am seriously thinking of asking Native Foods to open a branch in London! That, and reminding myself that I really do like baked oatmeal with a bit of cinnamon and sultanas and all that good stuff. Yum.

    1. Do it! No hurt in asking! :) I've been using brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon in my baked oatmeal a lot lately.

  4. Your taste buds are bored from all that? Looks like really tasty stuff to me. Wish I ate all that.

    1. Upon further reflection, it's more that nothing is sounding particularly wonderful right now. No audible "mmm" or "can't wait to have ______". I'm in a flavor desert. ;)

    2. Been there. It'll pass even though it seems like it never will.
