Roll With It

I don't care about football, so I didn't realize a) the season opener is tonight and b) the whole world revolves around football.  Thus, I was a little surprised to learn that my school decided (two days ago) to move Back to School Night from this evening to next week - because of the Bronco game.  I celebrated this free evening with a last minute Gentle Vinyasa class, yes - that takes me to six days of activity this week - but it really is mostly about stretching and a little toning.  The instructor is so amazing; all of her poses are beautiful and appear effortless.

Smart Start and vanilla almond milk:

The usual sandwich and blueberries for lunch:
To take our mind off the boiling heat in the building, we were handed a box of Lemonade Popsicles in the afternoon - I enjoyed one.

Dinner: spicy sauteed collards (I was a little heavy handed with the hot sauce), oven roasted potato and golden beet slices, served with cashew cream.
'
Wishing you a lovely, football free evening.  ;)

  1. Haha I have no concept of football at all so I didn't even realize it started tonight. That's awesome that you did yoga instead! I'm so impressed with your activity! :) A light vinyasa class sounds like a great way to unwind. And lemonade ice pops sound like a great way to cool off! Yum!

Great looking meals as always! Those greens look incredible and I should definitely try golden beets. Perfect way to avoid staining and those look delicious!

    1. I went to school this morning, and it was all the students wanted to talk about; how the Broncos crushed the Ravens. It never ends! Ha ha!

I definitely don't feel guilty about an extra class - especially when it's about stretching! Today was a full rest day, and next week I think I'll go a little lighter with four workout days. How's your new gym? Have you been able to try a class?

  2. I knew something was going on with football last night but only because Mike was watching it. He loves it and I just kind of space out when it's on, so I often read a book next to him while he watches it. :)

That heat wave is lasting so long by you! I love all of the light, delicious food you're eating and great job on six days this week!

    1. The heat is going to continue through the weekend, but we're expecting a 10 degree cool down next week - so, the 80s will feel a little better. Perhaps by the equinox we'll be closer to seasonal! Delicious food is always helpful. ;)

  3. I'm with you! I don't like it either, so I never know when an event is coming up and will change something else. Your dinner looks delicious!

  4. Sure wish I was a football fan, but all I see and hear is blah blah blah.

I got Golden Beets in my CSA order this week and cooked em up for the pups. They LOVE them. Do you share your veggies with Remy?

    1. I do! I just let him try some cooked beets, and he seemed to find them alright. He likes trips to the Farmer's Market for maximum sampling. Ha!

  5. I'm with you. If it wasn't for G, there wouldn't be a football game going on in my home. But, he's a Raider fan to the death, and so it goes. Lovin' that sandwich!

  6. Six days of activity? Wow. I'm so impressed - that's proper dedicated! You must be glowing with health right now! Football (the UK version) is just beginning over here - alas watching sports is more where I'm at!

    1. It hasn't been too intense, but I'll still go easy on myself next week. :) If it was the right atmosphere, or when I'm at a live sporting event, I can get into it!

  7. Fun to voyeuristically see your day of food. I personally hate football but am not opposed to others liking it ;)

  8. Ohhh, football started this week. I was wondering what the fuss was all about; I didn't know. Fortunately, my husband isn't too big on football, so I haven't seen it on the tv...yet. Those beets look great!
