Pantry & Fridge Clean Out

In continuance with the theme of seasonal change, I want to work through the rest of my fridge and pantry to clear out the old and bring in the new! I'll buy a little more produce this weekend, but otherwise I'll stick to working through what's already in the house.  I plan on documenting as much as possible, starting with today!

Peanut butter and rice cake (also: coffee at work)
Rice pilaf, leftover collards and onions
Angela's Avocado Pasta Get ready for more avocados, I have three more (purchased a week and a half ago!) to eat and leftover sauce from tonight.

I also have plenty of frozen fruit that I should put to good use - most likely in smoothies - before the weather turns!

I hope your week is going well, and I'll see you soon!

  1. Surprised yr avocados lasted that long! mine always need to be used within 2-3 days or else they rot and turn brown. No fun. Still haven't tried that pasta, though people seem to like it a lot.
Rice cakes are so nice, I never really buy them though. Pretty perfect with nut butter, no?

    1. The avocados have been living in the fridge since last week! I don't know why I thought I should buy that many. Stupid sales (4 for $5)! ;) I would recommend the sauce on just about everything, even as a dressing it would be great!

I apparently buy them, and then don't eat them. ;)

  2. It really does seem like the perfect time to go thru the pantry when the seasons change. That avocado sauce is good on anything and everything! Do you know about putting the ripe avocados in the fridge? Prevents them from getting over-ripe so you get a few more days. Ripe avocados are a good problem to have though :)

    1. I am all about the avocado - fridge relationship!

Going through the pantry is also friendly to my wallet, so it's good on all counts. :)

  3. It is smart to clean out the pantry every so often. I need to do more of that. I tend to save things that I like and then it takes me forever to use them.

  4. More avocados is always a good thing, IMO. I love going through the pantry. We usually do it at least once a year, usually the few weeks before a long trip (which we're doing now!). :)

    1. Ha ha! I love avocados, too, although with my inability to menu plan - they've just been hanging out! I am so excited about your next trip - Carolinas and camping sounds so amazing! You are such a great travel blogger, I always love to hear and see your adventures!

  6. I love doing pantry challenge type things. It's fun to use up what you have knowing you can re-stock with fun new things!! Everything looks really delicious. PB on rice cakes is a classic. I used to LOVE eating rice pilaf. I lived off of it in college. I don't know why I don't make it anymore! Can you believe I still haven't tried that avocado pasta?! I need to get my appetite back. Can't wait to see what you do with those avocados. Do you eat avocado toast? Mmmm.

Thank you again so much for my thoughtful birthday gift! You are so sweet!

    1. I definitely get suckered by BOGO deals and 2/$__ advertising, thus the ride pilaf! I have another version to try soon, too. I know you're not a pasta lover, but the sauce alone is fantastic! And super easy to make! I've only made it through one (out of four) avocado, and am not feeling the urge for more - I've heard of people freezing them, so I am considering it!

      You are so welcome!!!
