Rest Day

Frozen banana, pb, and almond milk smoothie.

After work, I went with a friend to Civic Center Eats and visited the Vegan Van:
Planet Rock with a side of Rock Steady
(Spicy Tofuffalo with ranch slaw and supergreens vegan caesar salad)

Cocoa dusted almonds and blueberries

Kale & strawberry salad with poppyseed dressing; corn on the cob

It would seem the tree outside my classroom window (it's 90 degrees outside, and the building was built in the 1920's. . .it's hot in there, no a/c) is giving off some serious pollen.  The sinus pressure is rockin' my face off.  Or maybe, I'm just allergic to freshman. . . ;)

  1. Yikes, sorry about the allergy problems! I've been having a rough time with them lately too. Today was especially bad! It sucks being allergic to being outside lol.

Gorgeous meals as always! The smoothie sounds delicious. I'm house sitting for my bro next week so I'll be making sure to get good use out of his high speed blender ;)

Hooray for the Vegan Van! The sandwich looks very delicious. I love your fruit/cocoa dusted almond combo. For some reason I don't like fresh blueberries. I only like them frozen or fresh ones cooked into something. I bet strawberries would go well with the almonds too. Love that kale salad.

Hope you feel better soon! Enjoy the weekend!

    1. I knew you would understand, having recently been plowing through allergies! I had therapy this week, and I mentioned my allergies - she recommended I see an acupuncturist she knew who had had a lot of success with relieving sinus pressure. I'm curious, but I don't know if it'll involve nasal needles. AAAAAAh!

Hooray for house sitting, Tyler snuggles, kitties on balcony banisters, and smoothies! ;)

You know, I used to be the same way. I still don't like fresh raspberries or blackberries (it's a texture thing). I bet strawberries would be a great combo too!

      I am, thank you!

  2. The Vegan Van has an intriguing menu. I don't know how you resist stocking up on one of everything. That's my M.O.

Very inspiring food day. Sure hope Corn comes in season here soon. The pollen, not so much.

    1. The sandwich, and everything else, minus the salad are all hot. Not to mention, I've only ever loved that sandwich and that salad. The rest has been okay. The Randy Radish seems to be much better.

The corn is arriving in droves, and is quite tasty. August is usually our month for corn, when is yours? September? I know our climates are different, so maybe that has something to do with it.

  3. Wow, that sandwich looks so awesome! You're very lucky to have the Vegan Van there. I wish there was a 100% vegan place here.

Sinus pressure is so awful. I hope that you feel better soon! My allergies have been very off & on all summer.

I hope you had a good first week back at work!

    1. I do enjoy the Planet Rock and the Rock Steady, but I do wish she had more than the same five or six items forever on her menu. Bring on Native Foods! ;)

Amazingly, by last night and today (when I'm not at work), I am sinus pressure free! Ha ha! However, I don't know what I am going to do once school is fully back in session. . .

I think 9th grade academy was a success, tomorrow afternoon until Tuesday I'll be at a retreat in the mountains with the rest of the staff - I hope it'll be fun and informative!
