Lighten Up

I've been eating out far too often these last few days, and so I wanted to take today to re-set my system (portion wise).  I started with a desire to pump my body full of this:
A liter of freshly pressed juice - it took me all day to get through it, but I feel good as a result.  The Kombucha was enjoyed before breakfast.  Here's a close up:
Not as many "floaties" as other brands, and it tasted pretty good.  I have another flavor that I'll try tomorrow.   My late breakfast: toasted everything bagel, Tofutti, and cucumber.

The liter of juice kept me pretty full throughout the afternoon, but when hunger did strike - here's how I handled it (about two hours apart):

(my kale chips are still better)
When dinner-time rolled around, I was ready to eat.  I cooked a red potato, topped with green chile, broccoli and nooch.

My dogsitting duties ended yesterday, and I've had the chance to get myself ready for the week! I hope your weekend has been wonderful!

  1. Great re-set! We felt the same after getting home from our trip. Too much decadent eating out & we were ready for some healthy homemade whole foods.

The juice sounds really good. I've never had a drink with ginger in it other than ginger ale, but I'll have to try it if I ever stumble upon some. I love ginger.

    1. I should probably continue the re-set for a few more days, but I awoke hungry! HA!

I love, love this juice. I think WF got wise to the fact that there were specialty shops making a killing, so they started juicing in house and charged half the price. Brilliant! ;)

  2. Oh, I know what you mean when you feel you're eating has been disordered in a way. I feel yucky, too. I like how you switched things up to get yourself back on track. The spud and broccoli look marv.

    1. I might continue it on some level, as I could use more liquid in my life - but a juicer isn't in the budget for me in the meantime! Thus, more water and more healthy meals to come!

  3. Welcome back! I know what you mean about needing a re-boot after eating too many meals out. Looks like you did a great job! A liter of juice, that's great! I bet you felt a good recharge after that. Less floaties in the kombucha? Count me in. The floaties really freak me out. Breakfast looks great and I bet your kale chips are definitely better. And your dinner!!! Oh man that potato with broccoli looks great, love that combo!

    1. Thanks, Sarah! :) It was certainly ambitious of me, and I had no idea how difficult it would be drink a liter of juice. Ha! I think because I was drinking water and tea, too. Might have to fix that next time!

Yes, this brand of kombucha is good and not scary to look at / ingest! I'm trying the other flavor in the morning, so you'll see it soon.

I look forward to having more time and making kale chips (along with other seasonal dishes)!

I hope you are having a great night :)

  4. Green chile on a potato sounds awesome! Nice choice. I also like the sound of the juice. Ginger is great to help with cleansing! I'm thinking about doing a sort of cleanse myself.

    1. I've been thinking about the chile and potato combo for a while, and I might try a different version soon. I liked them together when I made a hash a few weeks ago. Ginger is such a magnificent healer! Love it!

    1. Ha ha! Kombucha cultures are just a little too strange that I have to close my eyes when drinking - this brand doesn't have that!

  6. Whenever I fancy a reset, I always crave broccoli! The dark greens are calling in that green juice too.

    1. Broccoli - and all cruciferous veggies in my mind - are great for making one feel healthy! I definitely OD'ed on the kale yesterday, ha!

So many new brands of Kombucha on the market now.

    1. Thanks, Shen! I plan to continue, as I can feel myself dragging here at the end of the school year - and we have two more weeks to come. *sigh*
