Indecisive Thursday

Do you ever have one of those days when nothing sounds good?  Even inside the hallowed halls of Whole Foods, I couldn't find anything that truly seemed appealing.  So here are today's meals, and they were fine, but not what I wanted.  What did I want? I have no idea.  Ha!
The Live Pumpkin Bar was the highlight of the day.

I didn't workout this morning because I knew I had to take a two mile roundtrip walk with my ninth graders to the theater.
Upon return, spaghetti squash with cashew cream, spinach, and tomatoes...for the fourth day in a row this week.
Snacking in the afternoon on roasted cauliflower, good - but not hitting the spot.  So, I had a little kettlecorn. Nope, that wasn't the spot either.

Took Remy to the park, where I walked around and thought about what to eat for dinner.  Nothing.  Went to Whole Foods, considered this wrap (for continued Beyond Meat critique):
But ended up with a salad instead: mixed greens, red onion, baked tofu, cucumbers, carrots, and mushrooms.
Lite Balsamic Vinaigrette once home.  Also, a mug full of Curried Golden Beet Soup.

I have one mission tomorrow: eat something spectacular.  If it happens, I'll let you know. ;)

  1. I do have those days. They are usually accompanied by not wanting to cook either. Luckily, there is always tomorrow! :-)

    1. Ha ha! True - cooking usually isn't fun if what you are making doesn't sound appealing.

  2. I have those days often, especially now where eating in general just doesn't appeal to me in general. I make meals that sound great in theory, but when it comes to eating them I just don't want to. I eat a few bites and I'm done.

I can sit here and say all day that your meals look delicious (which they do) but I know exactly how you feel. It always looks good, even though you don't want to eat it. I hope that you find that perfect meal tomorrow! And when you do, you definitely need to share it with us ;)

Sounds like you put in some mileage today!! Awesome job! :) You rock lady!

    1. I absolutely know what you mean! I can try and reason with myself that it's a good idea, a nutritious meal, blah blah - but my tastebuds are not on board! Ha!

No such luck yesterday, but today is looking up. I wonder if I need to reset my system and sleep more, in order to get back on track? Not sure.

  3. I definitely have those days. Sometimes you just have to force yrself through it. Leftovers will certainly turn on the "food ennui," good as they may be.
Nice interior! What was the theatre trip about?

    1. Force myself through it is usually how it goes! I need to start making half batches in order to not reach "leftover fatigue". Ha!

That is a picture of the Performing Arts complex that houses several theaters/opera house/concert halls. We went to see "The Giver" (a book that most read last year in 8th grade). The actors came out afterwards, and the students were able to ask them questions.

  4. Yep, sometimes there's just nothing that's hitting the spot. On those days I normally give up and have soup - it may not be what I want, but at least it's easy to cook!

    1. Agreed! Easy items are usually the route of choice when I'm not in the mood for anything.

  5. Know exactly what you're talking about. I have those days too and it's not only about food it's more like a general feeling that NOTHING is quite right. Your clothes, your hair etc. But you don't know what right is. You know?

    1. You know what - you are absolutely right! It's like everything is off! I wonder how we can reset ourselves to get back to normal? Hmmm. . .

  6. Nothing has been sounding good to me lately. Bleh. That's nice you can walk to your field trip.

    1. Perhaps there is something going on. . .a change in weather? The end of summer produce availability? Yes, we are so fortunate to be located close to so many destinations!

  8. I've been having a few of those days myself this week. So frustrating! Although, it makes it that much better when you finally get something that really hits the spot. :)

That's great that you got to walk a few miles at work. I try to walk a lot in the warehouse when I can. It helps the day go by faster!

    1. At first the students were surprised, as "we're not taking a bus?", but then I explained that buses cost $250 - $300. I asked them - do you want a bus ride or money towards another iPad to use in class? They were ok with walking afterwards. :)

  9. I really like Go Raw bars, especially the live pumpkin (and live granola) ones, but I have never tried a spirulina one because well... potential "ew." I'm glad you liked it though. Too bad you had an unsatisfying food day, but yea for surviving a trip with a bunch of ninth graders! I hope you had some spectacular food the next day as planned.

I'm trying to get back to at least one spectacular meal! :)
