A Few Groceries + Bonus

 Carrots, celery, cauliflower, avocados, pears.
Kale, Sunflower Whole Wheat (50 calories a slice and no crap in the ingredient list - great stuff!).
Impulse buy: popcorn ball.  It was good!
This week, I want to make Tomato Coconut Curry Soup - and serve it with grilled cheese:
 New purchase:
Here is your bonus for the day: my weekend house guest
She's huge in comparison to my little Remy, but really well behaved.  I know she's a mix of Border Collie and Australian Shepherd, but there's more in there - I don't know what.  I need a bigger house, and yard, before adding a second pooch permanently - that's for sure! Ha!

  1. Aaaah what a beauty she is!!! OMG I'm on cuteness overload, she's so freaking adorable. I love that she is surrounded by leaves too :) Such a great shot!

Great grocery haul!! That bread is really impressive. I've seen 40 calories/slice bread that you can see through and that one looks really hearty and substantial. Oooh can't wait to see how the tomato soup and grilled cheese comes together :) I still haven't tried the Daiya wedges. Maybe one day ;) I was debating a popcorn ball the other day but decided against it. I'll have to live vicariously through you! Definitely let us know how the tea is, it sounds great!

Have a great day tomorrow!! I'll be bunkered down here, hopefully I can still check in though!

    1. She's pretty cute - a lot of work, but I already miss her! Thank you!

This particular bread is really good. I can't wait to make the grilled cheese and tomato soup! You would like the wedges, I'm certain! I really should have more self control - you are my hero. :)

I tried the tea yesterday, and it was a nice end to the day.

Thinking of you - I saw on your Twitter feed (on your page) that you have lost power! I hope you get it back soon, and can stay as warm as possible!!!!

  2. That is a beautiful dog! Really pretty.
The curry tomato soup sounds delicious. Unique flavor combination, I hope it's great. Sounds perfect with a grilled cheese too!
I like the sound of that bread. As I'm sure you know, we've got the hurricane here on the East coast and I almost bought bread for something easy to eat during the storm, but I was just like, "ehh... I don't like eating bread!" But I would totally eat that kind.
    Now I want tea...

    1. She's a cute pup, for sure!

I first tried this soup in March (or so), and it is so good! I totally understand the grocery store pre-storm shopping. When a big snow storm approaches (which is at least two or three times annually), people clear the shelves: "We'll never dig out! Aaaaah!". ;)

      Stay warm and safe, Maud!!

  3. Great looking haul! That tomato soup sounds really good. I have not made cream of tomato soup since going vegan, but it's on my to-do list; maybe coconut milk will be the "cream" ingredient.

Your house guest looks like a good dog. Blue is an Australian shepherd and the dog I had before him was a border collie mix. I'm not surprised Remy is jealous. I know Blue would be. :-)

    1. Thanks Rachel! I've made the soup before, and would highly recommend it. I can't find condensed tomato soup that doesn't have HFCS in it, so I have make a few alterations. The flavor, nonetheless, is spectacular!

Animals with their personalities and quirks are so entertaining! She thought she could be a lap dog like Remy, and continued tried to sit on me (more like half of her body on my lap, hind quarters and legs on the floor). Ha!

  5. I love a good old nose through other people's grocery shopping -is that wrong?! With you on the bread - I find buying it really frustrating when there's all manner of crap in the ingredients list and you're not sure if it's vegan or not. Grrr.

    What a gorgeous house guest...

    1. Me, too! I love it - seeing what people in different places have purchased. I am so glad I found this particular bread, as it is a small part of the bakery section of the market.

  6. That is my kind of house guest! Very well behaved, grateful for the hospitality and willing to pose for pics.

The Popcorn Ball is a great impulse buy. I need to get one.

    1. She is really well trained, so I put the treat in the air and she sat very still - a better model than Remy who has a short attention span. ;)

Tis the season for popcorn balls.
