Whole Foods Visit #2

In case you missed store #1, click here.

This Whole Foods location is the smallest of the three I frequent, but is a short 10 minute drive.  The store was originally built to house Wild Oats, a Boulder based company, but was bought out by Whole Foods a few years ago.  If you have a second, you can read this.  This Whole Foods location is where I've purchased the vegan breakfast burrito, as seen here.  Let it be known, this store has the nicest employees ever.

Out front:
 Pre-packaged produce:
 Produce
Bulk Bins
 Favorite snack:
Favorite indulgence: effing expensive at $14.99 /lb
Gluten-Free (not as impressive as the mega store featured in #1, but still good!)
Tofu / Seitan / Tempeh / Etc. Case
Beloved brown rice tortillas, of course I bought two packs. (2/$5)
Umm. . .yes, I did.
Where I get my green chile on:
A little less hummus than the previous store. . .
Get your plates, it's hot bar time.  Obviously, Cinco de Mayo is almost here.
Above: Vegan Smothered Chickn Taquitos. Below: Vegan Cilantro Lime Rice, Vegan Pinto Beans
Vegan Sauces:  Red Chile, Green Chile.  Didn't check the tortillas.
 Vegan Veggie Fajitas
Salad Bar (that's the hot bar to the left)
Cucumber and Carrot Salad, Jicama Salad
Prepared case:
The only vegan wrap:

Yet again, going in to take pictures was so much fun! If this is still awesome, let me know and I'll get over to #3 in the next few weeks.

  1. This is indeed still awesome! Even for the smallest store it still looks huge and like it has so many amazing things! I really love the herb section in that first photo, all of the plants are so cute! I love shopping in the bulk bins section, they usually have so many great finds. I think my fav (other than hemp seeds) is the garlic and herb cashews. So good :)

I found out those chocolate bars were on sale on my way out tonight! wah! Vegan smothered Chikn tacquitos sound pretty amazing and I love all of the Cinco de Mayo dishes they had! Looks like they had a really great selection of festive dishes :)

Thanks for the tour! Looks like you have a nice selection of stores near you. I'd love to see the third!

    1. Good to hear! It does look pretty big in these pictures, but when I compare it to number one - I can totally see the difference! I just need one more weekend, and then I'll start planting / transplanting some herbs. Will have to look for those cashews next time!

I really should be more adventurous, and try more from the hot bar! It was an awesome selection, for sure. I've already started on a chocolate bar!

Thanks for your seal of approval! The third will make it on to the agenda before too long. :)

    2. PS I totally noticed your new look for the blog but forgot to mention it! I love it, it is bright and cheery for the summer!

    3. Thanks, Sarah! It wasn't planned, but I wanted to make sure my page was safe. I had to remove the other template due to a potential virus!

  2. I like your new blog template and this post. I once videotaped myself shopping at Whole Foods: A Trip to Whole Foods. There are two WF stores in my town, and one of them used to be a Wild Oats too. This store does look pretty big, especially for being the smallest of the three in your town. It also seems to have better vegan choices at the hot bar than my store does. Definitely take us along with you on your trip to the third store!

    1. Glad you like it! I hadn't planned on changing, but Shabby Blogs (the previous template) apparently was infected with malware, and told me take it down. Luckily, Blogger had this one readily available!

Wild Oats was a great place, it's too bad that they were absorbed. Luckily, WF has nice employees and a good selection.

The readily available vegan items come and go - I really lucked out yesterday!

Going to check out the video now!

  3. Wow, I love the photographic tour, Ingrid! Your WF looks so organized, and I can't believe it when you say it's small! I love the offerings at mine, but mine does not have hot foods that are vegan. We can special request a pizza, but that's about it. I love how you treated yourself to some (I'm sure well-deserved) chocolate. :-)

    1. Thanks, Blessed Mama! I'm glad you enjoyed the look around. The vegan offerings are always this plentiful, but I suppose they have to try and appease all eating preferences. Don't know that I deserved the chocolate, but it certainly tastes rewarding! :)

  4. After I visit Milwaukee, I'll have to make a stop in Denver. Your 'smallest' Whole Foods looks fascinating. And no annoying soccer Moms in their yoga pants blocking the aisles.

    1. Woo hoo! Glad you can start making your "places to eat" list for Denver.

Oh, believe me - there are yoga pants aplenty. Especially at WF #3 (it's the busiest one in town). I do try to go at "off-peak" hours so as to make sure said mothers are still in their pilates / yoga / pole dance classes. Ha!

  5. You really have an incredible amount of options! my WFs pales in comparison.
