Yesterday, Remy went in for his summer haircut.
Watchdog duty
While we are on the subject of animals, I found out last weekend that my favorite neighbor cat was given away. Whitney's human felt like he wasn't home enough, so she now lives with a friend. I'll miss her.
In relation to food stuffs, here are a few new items I look forward to trying:
Also, a few new prepared items I've already tried:
While Whole Foods has yet to put scones in the baked goods case, they do have a fabulous Vegan Blueberry Muffin. Yesterday, I also picked up these:
Nothing healthy here, but they did taste pretty good! Probably not a repeat buy, but good for celebrating Cinco de Mayo. I had them with a little salsa and Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream.
Lastly, I'm on a mission to learn how to make my own Spring Rolls, as I'm tired of paying $5.39 a pack.
I've been pretty active this weekend, and need to start sharing my workouts again. However, my activity levels drop during the work week. I CAN'T WAIT until I can exercise in the morning, afternoons clearly aren't happening for me. Are the weekends going by quicker, or is it just me?
See you tomorrow!

Lookin good, Remy! Too bad about the cat, though, but I hope she'll be happy where she ends up.
ReplyDeleteThat sunflower milk sounds great! I'd love to try that too but I've never seen it! It makes sense though.
Remy sends his thanks! I hope the same for Whitney.
DeleteI haven't tried the sunflower milk yet, but I'll let you know how it is!
Remy is such a handsome boy! He looks like he is loving that sunlight in the door :) That is so sad about Whitney but hopefully she'll get more love and attention in her new home.
ReplyDeleteYour new finds all look so good! I've seen that mac and cheese before, I'd love to hear what you think when you eat it! The taquitos look delicious and are a perfect way to celebrate cinco de mayo! I'm jealous of everyone's muffins, I really want to make some gf muffins soon. I miss muffins. I've been reading up on how to make spring rolls! If I find anything good I'll pass it along!
I agree, the weekend goes way too quickly. The next one is luckily just 5 days away :)
Hope your week goes quickly!
Prior to the haircut, he couldn't handle much sunbathing due to the extra fur! I agree, I miss her already!
DeleteI don't have immediate plans for the mac and chreese, but I will definitely document the experience when it happens! The taquitos were good, and so was the muffin. Muffins remind me of cupcakes (as in a once-in-a-while treat), so I try not to eat them too often. Ooh, definitely pass a long any spring roll recipes you find! So far I just have one from VegNews.
I hope the week (and the two that follow) go super fast! :)
Awh! What kind of dog is Remy? He's so cute :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the look of those taquitos? I don't think I have ever tried those. But they remind me of sausage rolls from England a little bit.
I could never work out in the morning! I'm always wayyy too tired and weak. I have to wake up at 4:30 for work, and then I get home between 5-5:30. So that's when I go for a run/do strength training. That works better for me, but most people I know can only work out in the morning. I guess it's just me :)
Thanks, Isobelle - I love him so much, so of course he's super cute. :) Remy is a Havanese Bichon mix.
DeleteHonestly, I've not had them before either! I know they are traditionally fried, so I probably never had them back in my meat-eating days.
I wish that I could exercise after work. I notice my workouts and energy throughout the day is so much better when I work out in the morning. I currently wake up around 5:30 (have to leave for work by 6:30). My new job (after summer break) will have me leaving the house around 7:45, thus I can get up at the same time - but get in a workout!
Hi Ingrid! Your dog is so cute!! I love when doggies get their summer cuts, they look so dang adorable! :-) So sad about the cat, but hopefully she will adjust soon to her new home and be happier there. She looks like one of my kitties.
ReplyDeleteI agree about exercising in the mornings, that's what I do and love it. Hope you can get back to that soon! Oh and yes, the weekends are going quicker!
Thanks, Christine! He's pretty adorable, that's for sure. I'm hoping she's happier, too! I'm such a sucker for cute animals.
Delete14 more week days, and I'll be back to mornings! So excited!
I'm sick that your neighbor gave away Whitney!!!! You loved her! How could they do that! I HATE YOUR NEIGHBORS!
ReplyDeleteI know! My neighbor works six days a week, but I don't know the hours. I hadn't seen Whitney for a couple of weeks, and poor Remy was looking for her, too. I asked about her (and her sibling), and was relieved she hadn't run off. They have a doggie door, and both cats did a lot of roaming about the block.
DeleteRemy looks nice, and I bet much smaller too! My Blue dog is way overdue for a grooming. That is sad about the kitty, but it sounds as if the decision was made in her best interest, although I was hoping to hear that you adopted her.
ReplyDeleteI have had the Road's End Macaroni and Chreese a number of times, and I think it's quite good so I'll be interested to hear your review. A very ambitious endeavor making your own spring rolls. I think that is something I'd rather leave to the professionals, although a spring roll making project is a fun dinner party idea.
He looks about 20% smaller, it's so funny! I agree, Whitney's best interest is what it's all about. Had she joined us, Remy would've had a conniption.
DeleteGood to hear about the pasta! I consider Operation Spring Roll to be on the summer to-do list, I imagine there will be a lot of trial and error.
