Not in My Kitchen

Today's meals were all courtesy of someone else.  The only part of me "working out" was my taste buds. :)

Breakfast: met up with friends at WaterCourse Foods
As I was first to arrive, I tried to be a little artsy with the camera on my phone.  I ordered the Floretine scramble: tofu, spinach, mushrooms, roma tomatoes, fresh rosemary - obviously, no cheese.  Home fries, dry wheat toast.  Served with blackberry jam and ketchup.
I said to my friends, "excuse me while I photograph this, I take pictures of what I eat and put it on a blog." Neither of them batted an eye, remarking "oh that's cool, you have a blog."  And we went back to our conversation. I did not finish my plate, and had only one piece of toast.  Really good, just a lot of food for 9:00am.

My brother came by early afternoon to pick up a copy of Hunger Games (borrowed from my school library - I read it over a year and a half ago, and he wants to know what the fuss is all about), and he took me out for a late lunch.

Snarf's Vegetarian Sandwich (again, no cheese): avocado, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, pepper. Toasted on wheat bread,
I also had Ginger Soda:
After taking care of a few errands, including a five item trip to Whole Foods, I picked up a small dinner:

And now to lose an hour of sleep, but gain an hour of evening sunshine. . .See you tomorrow!

  1. Aww, I want my brother to take me out to lunch! Sounds like a great day. Both the sandwich and the breakfast look delicious. It's nice to be able to take a break from cooking for yrself all the time. It's even better when you get to hang out with friends! Although I'm definitely still not super comfortable taking photos in front of friends.
I will gladly trade an hour of sleep for sunshine!

    1. Hi Maud! It was very kind of him, indeed. I usually try to not eat out so much, but things kind of happened this way!

Both of these ladies are great, and they think I'm quirky anyway (in a loving way, ha!), so I imagine the idea of this as my hobby isn't too surprising! It helped that I made the decision in my head to tell them a few days ago. Yes, I did rehearse what I'd say. :)

  2. Whoa lots of awesomeness to comment on in this post! First, your breakfast looks so good! I checked out the menu and it looks really amazing, and I love how they offer tofu options for everything and also tell you how to make the items gluten free. I would have ordered the same as you :) It looks so great and they certainly didn't skimp on the veggies which is always nice!

I agree with Maud, it is so nice that your brother took you out for lunch! The sandwich looks really great, nice and hearty! The spring roll looks great too.

I'm with you on the taking photos in front of friends. I'm not really comfortable taking photos out in public at all yet but I do with people that know about the blog (which isn't that many). It really isn't anything to be uncomfortable about because I think food blogging is becoming really prevalent and a lot of people are doing it. I guess it is really just a personal thing. I'm glad you were brave and took one for the team because those photos are definitely appreciated and will make a lot of people jealous :)

I'm definitely looking forward to more sunshine!

    1. Hi Sarah! Denver doesn't have very many vegetarian / vegan restaurants, so this place is really popular. I like their breakfasts the most. They are definitely great about gluten allergies, too!

After all the bread I ate, the spring roll was a nice finale!

You're totally right - no reason to be shy about our blogs! I'll probably become more bold as time goes on - this experience kind of broke the ice.

  3. So that's the Scramble that WaterCourse Foods puts out? Well, we've all seen better than that I must say. For shame. Snarf's Vegetarian Sandwich is a thing of beauty. Snarfs can feel proud.

    1. Yup, a standard scramble! The home fries were fantastic, though. Next time I think I might try the banana bread french toast!

Snarf's definitely knows what they're doing - best sandwich bread around. I just wish they had more vegan options - it's this sandwich or nothing.
