Al Fresco

Today was spent outdoors, and thus I made sure to take pictures of my meals. . .outdoors.

Sarah's pina colada smoothie (frozen banana, frozen pineapple, coconut chips, spinach, and water - as I was out of almond milk this morning):
A trip to the store ended with one of these:
Weed pulling, hedge trimming, and sweeping in the backyard.  Followed by lunch: onion bagel, Follow Your Heart cream cheese, cucumber slices.
Parents, brother, and their canine paid Remy and I visit.  We did 2.5 miles around the neighborhood, and ended at Menchie's - where I had a little dairy-free sorbet.

I can't believe it's still light outside at 7:00pm! That allowed me to take a picture of my southwest-inspired salad: mixed greens, avocado, corn, red pepper, salsa.

I'm still not believing that I don't have to work in the morning.  I heart spring break.

  1. Lucky you with spring break! I hope you enjoy every minute of it :) That's great that you got to enjoy a lot of time outside today! I love being outside on a nice day, and I especially love that you photographed all of your meals outside too. Yay for the smoothie and that chai sounds awesome.

The bagel looks like perfection and those sorbet flavors sound amazing! Which one did you have? That salad looks beautiful and I love that it is still light out at 7! Hooray for natural light dinner pics!

Enjoy your first day of spring break! I'll be jealous! ;)

    1. It was a little windy in the end, but a lovely day - for sure! We've been known to have snow storms during spring break, but not this year! The smoothie was great, even with the water.

I had the very berry sorbet, plain (you can add fruit or candy, similar to Pinkberry). We ate it outside on the patio (with the dogs, of course!). The salad was great, and so is late day sunshine - woo hoo!

  2. I can't wait for an al fresco day. The weather here has been okay, but on and off - it's confusing. Garden work is hard stuff but it can be fun.
The bagel and salad look fantastic. It's great that yr folks came to visit - do they all live in Colorado? Did you grow up there? Do you live alone? Why do I not know these things already?

    1. The only problem with nice days is that I want it to be summer now! So really spring break is a tease. I wish I had a pick plot to use as my garden, but I have two and half feet (which Remy occasionally likes to excavate) and that's it. I do plan on buying a planter and growing tomatoes.

To answer your questions: yes, they live in the 'burbs (bro is in grad school, lives with them). Yes, since I was a wee lass. Yes, with canine. Now you know, and now I know more about Queens! :)

  3. Why do you take spring break two weeks before Easter? What about Easter break? I don't understand the schedules anymore, I'm so out of touch. Anyhow, the smoothie looks so...smooth. And from your last reply to me I take it that you just have an ordinary blender to make your smoothies? Mine would never be able to do that. I'm hoping to get a more powerful one someday. I've bought several over the years but never had the luck that you've got.

    1. Our breaks have never coincided with Easter, and the family we have in Texas had theirs two weeks ago - so who knows why they schedule the breaks this way! I have a very ordinary blender, Oster brand, that I've had for at least five years. I really have to let it go awhile, but spinach breaks down in a second. It's kale that you have to worry about!

  4. I thought spring break was last week?! Love the bagel with cream cheese & cucumber. I intend to try that combo.

  5. Spring break varies based on the state, district, etc - we have different spring breaks half the time within Colorado. Ours is this week, hallelujah! I think you would LOVE the cream cheese and cucumber.
