I haven't posted, as I've eaten nearly the same thing everyday! Saturday mornings are my time to break the pattern, and break I did. . .
Apparently, I don't know how to cook blueberry waffles, as any recipe I use (today I tried
this one) results in my waffles splitting in half. We're talking half on the upper iron, and half on the lower. The moment I get my fork in there - they fall right off the skillet. This leads me to believe that it's not a "stick" issue - it's something else.
Regardless, this does not stop me from slathering said waffle in brown rice syrup and finishing my plate.
It should be noted that this does not occur with plain waffle production.
Any ideas or suggestions?!?!
Enjoy the three day weekend, unless you're working. In which case, you should eat waffles for breakfast. And then report back to me. :)
Wah I'm working and I can't eat waffles for breakfast! I'll have to live vicariously through you because this waffle looks AMAZING! I have no idea about the whole blueberry wreaking havoc on batter issues. Blueberries are supposed to make life better, not more difficult! ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, those look amazing. WHen I'm not so cranky and lazy I should try and make some gf waffles. Yum!
I would love to see GF waffles! Blueberries are not supposed to behave this way, that's for sure. :)
DeleteI may have asked this before but I can't remember...is there a particular reason you use brown rice syrup on yr waffles? They look great, despite the stick issue. How many waffles do you make at a time? They tend to stick more the less hot the iron is, so maybe the blueberries are too cold? Too wet? No idea!
ReplyDeleteYes! The brown rice syrup is supposed be less sweet, and I had always wanted to try it. Definitely a mild flavor, which is fine when you have hot, juicy blueberries! :) There's usually close to two waffles, but it varies. I will try to let it heat up more next time!
DeleteI'm inept w/ my waffle iron so I can't help. Still, they do look great!
ReplyDeleteHop to it, Stacy! Let's all practice with our waffle irons, for a waffle-off. :)
DeleteI don't own a waffle iron but these pics make me want to go out and buy one right away! They look absolutely awesome sticking or not.
ReplyDeleteAlright, Shen. Who do I need to talk to about getting you a waffle iron?
