B - Were you hungry?
I - Yes. I wanted something salty.
B - What part of you was hungry? Your mouth? Your stomach?
I - My stomach was physically hungry, a pinching sensation happened. My mouth wanted salt.
B - I see. Stand up. How does your stomach feel now?
I - (standing up - yes, I really did!) My stomach is too full.
B - So that run you were planning? Will you be comfortable?
I - No, I will not be comfortable.
B - What can you do differently the next time you're hungry for a salty snack?
I - I can have a few bites, crackers, whatever it is. Walk away, and check in with my stomach to make sure I'm not disconnected.
In the words of my therapist, "how was that?". An excellent reminder that when I'm connected to my body (not just a brain shoving food into an unfeeling carcass), I will not overeat.
Journaling is my free therapy session everyday that I choose to write it down.
Coming up: workout run-down.
